PAINTING AND SPECIAL COATINGS AN ADDED LINE OF DEFENCE
Apart from a great finished appearance, painting adds a final protective barrier against the weather and environmental pollutants. Nowadays, advanced painting technology provides a range of defensive options.
From water sealant and breathable coats to water-resistant elastomeric membranes, interior and exterior painting now offer some extremely durable systems with warranties from seven to 15 years and in some specific cases, up to 25 years.
For most of our operations, we stick to two types of paint technology:
Water-based membranes: Paint brands such as Dulux Weathershield use a water-based protective membrane system with excellent alkali resistance and adhesion. They’re suitable for external use and can be applied to most of the substrates in common use for facades, offering a cost-effective and durable solution.
Elastomeric membranes: Elastomer is simply another name for rubber. The elastomeric membrane provides the same benefits as a water-based membrane, giving the facade high water-resistance, anti-carbonation properties, and chlorine protection.
These membranes deliver a similar finish to some decorative paints but with enhanced crack-bridging performance, they bring you a robust and low maintenance solution.
